Nathalie Prévost has been involved with martial arts since 1987 and is an advanced instructor in Pekiti-Tirsia System of Kali.   Her main focus is attribute development against larger opponents and sound teaching methodologies.  This exploratory training is regularly tested in the context of sword play and stick sparring.

Her style of teaching is strongly influenced by her studies in cognitive science, in which she holds a PhD.   She also follows the research of Joan N. Vickers whose focus is on effective training and sports coaching from a cognitive science perspective.

HISTORY

Nathalie started in Taekwondo under the Chong Lee Association in Montreal.  Very soon after, she started training Pekiti-Tirsia System of Kali and has done so ever since.  Her main influences are Guro Loki Jorgenson, Tuhon Philip Gelinas and more recently Tuhon Rommel Tortal (nephew of  Grand Tuhon Leo Gaje) with whom she has trained with in the Philippines and in the US.   Nathalie is one of the highest ranking women in Pekiti-Tirsia Kali world wide.

Nathalie is also proficient in other Filipino martial arts such as Modern Arnis under Marte Rosales, Kalis Illustrisimo under Tom Dy Tang and Michael A. Gutierrez, and Villiabrille Kali under Louis Lindo.

She has also trained many years in other Southeast Asian martial arts such as pencak silat Gadjah Putih, under Maha Guru Roedy Wiranatakusumah, Pencak Silat Cimande under Guru Louis Lindo, and Krabi Krabong Buddhai Sawan under Ajahn Steven Wilson.

Since 1993, Nathalie has also trained empty hand systems extensively, including boxing, kickboxing, JKD and JKD type training with several instructors.  Her main influence Kirk Jaques teaches a blend of Kung Fu that resembles JKD – also JKD with Dan Inosanto and the Mano y Baston group, then in Muay Thai with Garvin Veron and Steven Wilson, boxing, at the Main Street boxing gym under several coaches and K1 type kickboxing with Blake Lirette.

She has some experience with grappling in Judo, at the SFU Judo club and BJJ with Stephan Kesting, Ritchy Yip and Jacy Wright.
