Guro Chris has been continuously training and fighting the Filipino martial arts since 1999 and has achieved advanced rankings in Pekiti-Tirsia System of Kali and Dog Brothers Martial Arts. He is a regular instructor at maelstrøm with a keen interest in espada y daga, physical conditioning, and new ways of hitting people with sticks.
HISTORY
Chris has been learning martial arts since 1993. He began training Pekiti-Tirsia Kali in 1999, and has been teaching it since 2005. He has spent time training in Vancouver (with Guro Loki Jorgenson), Montreal (with Tuhon Philip Gelinas), and briefly the Philippines (with Grand-Tuhon Leo Gaje, jr.).
After showing the requisite lack of self-preservation instinct by fighting at Dog Brothers Gatherings in Los Angeles, Toronto, and Switzerland, he earned the name Lazy Dog. He currently holds a rank of Agalon Guro in Pekiti Tirsia.
He is interested in and has trained several other arts, but his forte is hitting people with sticks.
