Upcoming Southeast Asian Cultural Festivals

Over the coming weeks, the Lower Mainland will again be hosting several festivals showcasing the arts and culture of several Southeast Asian countries.

Indonesia Fest
July 14th 12 noon – 4pm

Discover some wonderful Indonesian performing artists from various regions of Indonesia. The performances reflect Indonesia’s richness in diversity of ethnicities and cultures, highlighting performances from North Sumatra and Java. For coffee lovers, there will be a cupping and tasting event where you can sample the various rich flavours of Indonesia’s coffee. Indonesian food and drink products will available, and products such as wood-carved furniture, handicrafts, batik and toys will also be showcased and sold. Free admission.

Thai Festival
July 21st – 22nd 10:30a – 8:00p
Vancouver Art Gallery, North Plaza, 750 Hornby St, Vancouver
Experience the richness of Thai culture, and colourful dance and musical performances all weekend long. Highlights include Thai boxing, craft workshops, cooking and fruit-carving demonstrations, national costume fashion shows, and Thai fabric collection by Vancouver artist Terry Sasaki. Relax with a luxurious Thai spa massage, browse unique products imported from Thailand, and tantalize your taste buds with mouthwatering food and refreshments. Free admission.

Pinoy Fiesta
August 26th
Memorial South Park, 4th Ave and Windsor St., Vancouver
You will be amazed to witness the awesome presentation of our culture by various groups wearing unique and colourful costumes and beautiful floats. You will be entertained by groups representing the world renowned Philippine festivals: Ati-atihan, Dinagyang, Sinulog, MassKara, Moriones, Panagbenga, Igorot culture, Flores De Mayo etc.
