“As GlobalMedic continues its ongoing response aiding Syrian refugee families escaping the violence and conflict in their homeland, the Canadian Rapid Response team has deployed to Serbia to provide assistance to families crossing the Macedonian border, making their way through Serbia and into Croatia.
With over 4.2 million refugees having fled to Europe and other countries, the streets of Serbian border town Prešovo are lined with families waiting to be registered for further travel into Europe. Hundreds more arrive daily, with wait times for police registration up to 12 hours.
As temperatures drop and rains set in, these refugee families are forced to weather the elements, living in overcrowded conditions without access to adequate shelter, clothing or basic hygiene supplies.”
Guro Brett is currently in Serbia- He will be working in and around Presovo to help provide shelter, clothing and hygiene kits to families waiting to be registered to travel into Europe
