Tuhon and Son 1 – Origins

Tuhon Philip Gelinas is reknowned for keeping a low profile. Or at least as low a profile as someone of his stature can keep.

He is under-spoken about his outstanding achievements in the martial world over the past 47 years. He holds high rank in multiple disciplines – a full instructor under Guro Dan Inosanto in JKD and FMA,
a Mandala Tuhon under GT Leo Gaje, and was given a Grand Master’s rank in Kajukenbo by the founder Sijo AD Emperado. In May 2013 he was inducted into the Canadian Black Belt Hall Of Fame. He owns and
operates the Gelinas Academy of Mixed Martial Arts in Montreal which has been in operation since 1983, where many notables the likes of George St. Pierre have trained and called their martial home.

And he deeply believes in learning by doing. Fighting has been no different.

Examining the origins of such a man can offer fascinating insight into a long and storied road. Interviewed beautifully by his own son Ryan, Philip Gelinas offers us some background on his own beginnings in this well-crafted audio interview.
