Thaworn Sriphong began playing the Thai ranaat (similar to an xylophone) at age seven, taught by his father. Now he has performed in Canada, Japan, the Philippines, Egypt, France, Finland, Singapore, Malaysia and the US. In Bangkok he teaches in a school within the grounds of Chitlada royal palace. He also teaches at various universities and in the palace. He has graduate degrees in Musicology and has built a website for Thai classical music.
He is Thailand’s leading performer on the ranaad and brings a true dignity to the music with his spirited yet masterful touch, refined poise, and an extensive repertoire.
