Of course maelstrøm owes much to the Philippines, and the 115th Independence Day Celebrations in Vancouver is a great opportunity to celebrate and honour the ‘country of a thousand islands’. Several events are happening throughout the month of June, and we encourage anyone interested in the Filipino Martial Arts to attend and learn more about all aspects of Filipino culture. In particular, you might just see some maelstrøm members at Slocan Park on June 8th for a gathering of Pinoy food, music and fun. Check out a write-up of last year’s celebrations.
