Sinar Pusaka Putra
Sinar Pusaka Putra is a traditional Indonesian martial art originating from Garut, West Java, established on October 1, 1960. It was founded by the late Pak Eme, and later passed down to his students, including Pak Iso, through whom this lineage extends to Canada. The system is rooted in the traditions of the Sundanese people, the cultural group native to the western region of Java, often referred to as the Land of Sunda.

The name itself reflects its philosophy: Sinar (light) as a symbol of direction and purpose, Pusaka (heritage) as a link to ancestral tradition, and Putra as an inheritor or bearer of that legacy, emphasizing responsibility in preserving and continuing the tradition.
The style reflects the distinctive character of Sundanese martial traditions, emphasizing fluidity, sensitivity and adaptability over rigid force. Movements are often circular and responsive, designed to redirect an opponent’s energy rather than confront it directly. Practitioners develop strong footwork, grounded stances and close-range techniques, allowing for seamless transitions between defense and counterattack. A key aspect of training is the development of rasa – an intuitive awareness of timing, distance and intention.
Teaching within Sinar Pusaka Putra is traditionally delivered through jurus and ibing. Jurus are structured sequences of movements that teach fundamental techniques, body mechanics and underlying fighting principles. Ibing, on the other hand, refers to expressive, dance-like movement, blending martial application with rhythm, flow and cultural artistry. Together, they ensure that students not only learn effective techniques but also internalize the deeper cultural and aesthetic dimensions of the art.
Sinar Pusaka Putra represents a balanced approach, combining practical techniques with the preservation of regional tradition and cultural identity.
