Japanese Sword – Katana
Katana were one of the Japanese swords used by samurai of ancient and feudal Japan and are used today in traditional martial arts such as Kenjutsu, Iaido, Ninjutsu and Budo/Bujutsu. It is characterized by its distinctive appearance: a curved, slender, slinger-edged blade with a circular or squared guard and long grip to accommodate two hands.
Katana are traditionally made by folding layers of steel in order to produce a blade that has a hard cutting edge while retaining a more flexible body to the rest of the blade. The video below shares the secrets and beauty of Japanese sword-crafting.
