In a situation where you have to reconcile your previous training and personal knowledge, sometimes it’s best to be pushed just to the edge of your boundaries. For example, Wing Chun’s centre lines are a useful metaphor when thinking of vectors and general directions of your energy. JKD became famous through Bruce Lee (guro Brett is the local JKD expert), but a mental state requires Nike’s philosphy of ‘Just Do It’.
It’s called sight training and trusting your body’s intuition before the specific drill. When connecting dots, remember to keep the details on the periphery and concentrate on your surroundings, as well as the skill level of your partners. Do not be fooled by height, experience or weight advantages. Safety third!!

“You use many kinds of visual abilities in daily life. Identifying several objects in a wide range of vision at once, correctly recognising moving objects and so on make up your ability to see. In other words, you could say your visual ability is the accuracy and agility of your eyes. We call your visual ability ‘Focus Ability’, and aim to improve it through training.”
