HISTORY

Born in 1977 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver B.C, Jacy came to the martial arts at the age of 16 when he started taking Yang Style Tai-Chi while recovering from football related injuries.

After training for a time in Aikido and Kendo he found his home in Pekiti-Tirsia System of Kali at the age of 19 under Tuhon Loki Jorgenson.  Moving to Montreal to attend McGill University Jacy had the opportunity to train under Tuhon Philip Gelinas, and started training Brazillian Jui-jitsu under Nova Union Black Belt Wagney Fabiano, later receiving his Blue Belt under BTT Black Belt Fabio Hollanda.  He attained Lakan Guro ranking in Pekiti-Tirsia System after 7 years of hard training in the art, in 2002. As part of his commitment to the art, he had the honour of housing Grand Tuhon Leo Gaje Jr. for three weeks in Montreal, during his return to giving North American seminars.

Jacy then brought his skills to Mexico, specifically Huatulco,  where he taught and trained. There Jacy and his then-wife Ximena Osegueda – an instructor of capoiera – formed Trisquellion Martial Arts, with classes in BJJ, Boxing, Capoeira and Kali.  He continued training in all of the aforementioned arts, often bringing in instructors for seminars and traveling to Brazil for 3 month on a training vacation.

Returning to Vancouver, Jacy re-joined maelstrom and brought his unique talents and skills to the students and instructors.  He helped establish and lead the maelstrom Kali program at the Ancient Fire location.

Rest in peace.
