<\/p>\nThis place is called Mt Samat national shrine aka dambana ng kagitingan
\nIt is a historical shrine located near the summit of Mount Samat in the town of Pil\u00e1r, Province of Bataan, in the Republic of the Philippines. The shrine was built in honor\u00a0 of Filipino and American soldiers who fought during World War II.<\/p>\n
The Battle Of Bataan was fought from January 7th to April 9th, 1942. At this time the Japanese army had invaded several Filipino islands as well as Luzon and was in control of most of Southeast Asia,\u00a0 and the commander of Filipino\/American forces brought all of the Luzon troops in to the Bataan peninsula to fight against the invading army.<\/p>\n
Despite the lack of supplies, the army held off the Japanese for three months and the surrender was the largest in both Filipino history.
\nDuring the war Filipino soldiers often found themselves going up against against pistols armed only with their blades.<\/p>\n

Here is a shot of the evolution of those pistols during that time period- a testament to the effectiveness of the opposing blade work.<\/p>\n
The Knives in use were often the kamilan and panabas-<\/p>\n
