Stick fighting can be difficult to train at home- computer or couch in the wrong place, overhead light fixtures or ceiling fans, anything mildly breakable anywhere in the room (the mirror just snuck up on me! I swear! and if we just move that picture down a few inches it will cover the dent in the wall. See? All better..)and while a lot of what we learn in Pekiti is close range small-space fighting, its nice not to have to put the room at risk if you are practising indoors.
Luckily, there are many martial concepts that translate into other, more house friendly skills, hand-eye coordination being one of them. In this article Ross Enemait goes into detail about ways of training hand-eye coordination using excellent brain-bending methods that don’t involve sticks. Can you guess what they are? No?
