As we mentioned previously, this upcoming Saturday June 8th, there will be a Pista ng Bayan (a community fiesta) at Slocan Park celebrating the 115th Independence day of the country to which we owe our martial art. There are a variety of other related activities happening throughout the month, but we invite you specifically to join us this Saturday for some informal socializing and playing with sticks.
From 1pm to 3pm, maelstrøm will be gathering around ten 20 feet tall colourful flags. It will be somewhat like a regular training class, but with more breaks, chatting, and all around celebrating! We especially encourage students to come out, bring their sticks and maybe a bite to eat. It will be relaxed and a great chance to train a bit, and get to know the rest of the club.
